How ACR is Calculated
Calculation Method
ACR is calculated by measuring the concentration of albumin (mg) and creatinine (g) in a spot urine sample, using the formula:
ACR (mg/g) = Urine Albumin (mg) ÷ Urine Creatinine (g)
Why This Matters
- Corrects for urine concentration differences
- Provides reliable results even in a single random urine sample
Applications
- Routine health exams
- Diabetes and hypertension monitoring
- Early detection in occupational and community health screenings
